At Sardella’s, we understand through personal experience how cancer can impact the lives of families and loved ones. In 2008, my eldest son, Tony was diagnosed with cancer. His treatment was challenging, but to our delight, he is winning his battle and remains cancer-free today.
Unfortunately, we are once again faced with a cancer battle. This past July, Gayle, my wife of 30 years, was diagnosed with cancer and faces a long and difficult battle with this formidable disease. The great support of family, friends and community have been overwhelming and, as we fight this battle, we also want to give back.
Support and Giving Back
We know we are not alone in this fight – everyone has been impacted by cancer in some way. Whether you are a patient or survivor, a family member or a friend, a caregiver or a community member, at some point cancer has likely touched your life.
Great strides in research are taking place and new treatments and therapies continue to be discovered, but cancer still takes lives too soon and is a serious health risk to all. We feel that getting involved and giving back to the community and to the world will help not only ourselves, but everyone touched by this disease.
Cancer Facts
The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2015, 1,658,370 new cancer cases will be diagnosed. They also estimate that there will potentially be 589,430 cancer deaths in the US this year.
Despite these alarming numbers, thanks to ongoing research and newer treatments, two out of three people diagnosed with cancer today will live more than five years. While, it’s a great start, we would like to see even better numbers.
The American Cancer Society contributes more to funding research to eliminate cancer as a public health issue than any group outside of the government. They are currently funding new cutting-edge research, genetics testing and immunotherapies in hopes of eliminating cancer forever. They also offer programs and support to patients and families directly through their organization.
This is why we have chosen to help raise money for them and for our common cause of fighting cancer.
T-Shirt Fundraiser
Through November, Sardella’s will be selling limited edition t-shirts. We wish to show support and to offer strength to fellow patients, survivors, friends and families touched by cancer.
Awareness, support, research, and advocacy bring us together and it is our mission to support these things fully. All proceeds from sales of these t-shirts will go to The American Cancer Society to help find better treatments and cures for all families facing this battle.
We greatly appreciate your support in our mission and your support of the patients and survivors as well as their caregivers, families and loved ones. From the bottom of our hearts, we at Sardella’s would like to thank you for your personal support as by helping us, you help us continue to give back and we’re all in this fight together.
