Move over Brad Pitt and Kristen Stewart, there’s a new star in Hollywood: Pizza. Pizza has given flavor to so many movies, yet often gets completely neglected. Whether it’s a product placement from top New York Style Pizza places or a common food prop for movie sets, pizza plays a big role in some of the greatest movies of all time. Sardella’s offers the best pizza in Phoenix, but today we’re listing our top five best pizza movie moments.
1. Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)
Ordering pizza to be delivered to school is something we only dreamed of in our younger years. Spicoli bravely made this dream a reality, only to be punished by his cruel teacher.
2. The Net (1995)
Back in 1995, the Internet was new and exciting. The scene wasn’t teaching us how the Internet could steal our identity, rather it was trying to wow us with the jaw-dropping things you could do online, like ordering a pizza.
3. Wayne’s World (1992)
One of the most obvious and hilarious product placement scenes of all time, Wayne (Mike Myers) fights to keep his show sponsor-free by making a mockery of his shady producer. While holding a pizza box up to the screen and flaunting a giant slice of pizza, he sarcastically says, “I will not bow to any sponsor.”
4. Saturday Night Fever (1977)
The opening scene of this movie features Tony (John Travolta) slapping two slices of pizza together (making the classic double-decker pizza) while strutting down the street. If you didn’t want to order pizza after that scene, you’re not a true pizza lover.
5. Manhattan (1979)
While sharing some New York-style pizza, commitment-phobe Isaac (Woody Allen) is feeling some pressure by his girlfriend’s recent news. Isaac uses pizza as an avoidance tactic by waiting for the server to chime in.
