A few weeks ago we shared some tips on the best ways to reheat a slice of pizza. While those work great when you are craving a delicious, cheesy slice of pizza – today we offer reheating ideas with a twist. These aren’t your grandparents’ pizza reheating tips:
Cold pizza in the morning may have been fine for your college days, but the adult way to eat pizza in the morning: a pizza omelet! Cut up a slice of leftover pizza into bite-size pieces and throw it in a skillet with 2 eggs, some mozzarella cheese, and a dash of oregano. In no time at all, you’ll have a hot and delicious breakfast that is much more satisfying than that cold slice.
If a pizza scramble doesn’t sound like your thing, but you like the intersection of pizza and breakfast, consider pizza waffles. Start by warming up the waffle iron and trimming the crust off the leftover slice of pizza and place it in the waffle iron. Now you have the option of adding a few more toppings like mozzarella, pepperoni, olives – whatever your heart desires! The next step is to take a second slice of pizza (crust trimmed off) and place it face down on the piece in the waffle iron. Close the waffle iron and allow the cheese to melt and the bottom crusts to warm until crisp. There you have it, a cheesy, melty pizza waffle!
Our next suggestion takes our general pizza reheating tip of warming up a slice in a stovetop skillet to the next level. Using two slices of leftover pizza place them toppings together in a skillet, add a few drops of water to the skillet and then place something heavy (like a hamburger press) on top of the top slice. Heat until the toppings are melted and presto – pizza panini!
Finally, our last extreme pizza reheating tip involves taking one type of Italian food and turning it into another, that’s right – pizza lasagna! This tip works especially well when reheating an All Meat or a Works pizza simply because they will offer the most diverse flavor combination, however, any slice will do. Remove the crust and cut the remaining slice(s) into bite-size pieces and place in a small baking pan. (Important: Use a pan with sides.) Sprinkle in a layer of cheese and then top with a generous serving of marinara sauce. Place in the oven at 350º and bake until hot all the way through.
